Virgil States (born June 8, 1988), better known by his stage name Yung Versus, is an American hip-hop recording artist, songwriter and record producer from Hot Springs, Arkansas. Yung Versus started rapping at the age of 10, becoming serious about it at the age of 14 when his brother a producer, Alvin States started a local independent record label called NTBent. He released his first mixtape; Spa City’s Finest, in 2003 and continued to release several mixtapes, including Money Hunger Monster Vol 1& 2, and Dat Kill Bill Vol. 1. This drew a lot of interest in his native Arkansas and beyond.
Yung Versus has been doing shows in Arkansas since the age of 14. In 2010, Yung Versus performed in the Dej Jam Artist Showcase. In early 2013, Yung Versus and independent artist Tree Man opened up for artist such as Starlito, Don Trip, Kevin Gates, Trina, Trae Da Truth, Lil KeKe, Lil Flip and countless independent artists. He also released two music videos, “On Da Racc and Legit Money.
Currently Yung Versus and his brother, rap artist, Milticcet are working on releasing two brand new mixtapes, Young Black Wise Guys and Army of Two on his own label NTBent. Compared mostly to J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, The Lox, and Nipsey Hussle; Yung Versus is a thought provoking lyricist that narrates about the street life he has witnessed and been affected by. Unlike most new rap artist, he is humble, composed, and mature. The future is looking bright for the independent artist, Yung Versus.
