Tessa wasn’t raised on Country music. In fact, it wasn’t until her early teens that she discovered the genre, as the West Coast raised singer/songwriter grew up listening to folk, pop and rock. However, when Tessa began making music of her own, she combined her many influences into her current style of modern country: a blended genre of pop-based hooks and Southern stylings. “What attracted me to Country music was its emphasis on storytelling. Lyrics, to me, are the make or break of a song.”
Tessa’s most recent studio release, showcasing works recorded in 2014, emphasize her lyrical strength as a songwriter. Tracks like “Bad Boys” illustrate her care for wordplay as she sings Our love was crazy and oh, so fast / like a rollercoaster about to crash / cause what goes up must always come down.
