Kent Dykes was born in McComb, MS in 1950 and learned to play authentic blues, country, and rockabilly from his friends from across the tracks. He started his first band at 13 and has been playing and touring internationally since then. In 1976 he moved with his band the Howlers to Austin, TX and quickly became one of the hottest bands in town, laying the foundation for Austin being named the Live Music Capital of the World. His original music has been featured in 5 major motion pictures: Like Father, Like Son (1987 Dudley Moore and Kirk Cameron), Speed Zone (1988 John Candy), Mojave Moon (1996 Angelina Jolie), Witless Protection (2008 Larry the Cable Guy), and Doonby (2012 John Schneider and Ernie Hudson). He has been featured in a Miller Beer commercial and on the tv pilot series Happy Town. His voice is a combination of Howlin' Wolf and Capt. Beefheart with a little Wolfman Jack mixed in. His roadhouse rock and blues are a favorite of fans globally.
