Maryam Mirbagheri aka Maryama is an award winning Iranian American composer, performer and an artist. She holds two Associate Degrees ( Jazz Studies and Music Composition) from American River College where she was mentored by the great jazz musician, Joe Gilman and she is currently studying composition at California Institute of the Arts. Being closely exposed to the culture of both the middle east and the western world, Maryama’s music is a unique representative of this mix. Starting 2014 Maryama (voice, guitar, loop station FX) is proud to feature The Maryama Band with whom she expands on and brings to life her original compositions/songs and arrangements. The band is consisting of Julian Karahalios (bass), Linnea Sablosky (cajon, voice), Nick Hon (drums) and Maleke Clemmons (piano). Maryama Band showcases an alternative fusion of  genres. The band's sound is a combination of soul/jazz/rock with a glitter of Persian and Middle Eastern music.
