"We saved Dan off of Craiglist," jokes frontman Mike McCabe.

The two met following cellist Dan Radin's "Cello player: new to town/need friends" post on his second night after moving to Austin, Texas in the fall of 2015.

McCabe had already started to garner industry attention via his singer-songwriter act, Sugar, Dirt, & Sand. Adding a lead cello to the lineup, the duo seized the opportunity to open for Bob Schneider and Los Lonely Boys and playing official SXSW showcases. But as a dedicated family man, the run came to a halt when McCabe returned to his home in Richmond, Virginia to be closer to his loved ones.

"I honestly never thought I'd see him again," recalls Radin. "It changed my life when he said he was coming back to Austin." And in May 2020, McCabe did, in fact, return to Texas.

The duo re-formed as folk-rock powerhouse Lucky Pennys. Their first release, "Blood in the Sheets," came out as a single that summer. Once the Live Music Capital of the World started to...
