Former vocalist with The Mamas & The Papas and The Buckinghams singing premium rock, pop, blues, jazz and defying gravity at the most unexpected moments. Originally from Saginaw, Michigan, vocalist Laurie Beebe Lewis (Laurie Seaman) with internationally acclaimed garage psychedelic band "Pitche Blende" frequently toured with Bob Seger, Dick Wagner & the Frost, Alice Cooper and Ted Neugent in the late 60's early 1970's. Laurie moved to Chicago to work in the recording industry and hit the Jazz scene on Rush Street as well as veatured vocal guest with various groups like The Spinners, Big Band leader Les Elgart, Jim Beebe’s Chicago Jazz with trombonist Jim Beebe, and drummer Barrett Deems, Harry James, B.B. In 1985, The Buckinghams were featured on 'The Happy Together Tour' with The Turtles, Gary Lewis, and The Grassroots, playing to SRO audiences in 125 cities and proclaimed one of the most successful tours that year by Billboard and Performance magazines. She also recorded an album in 1997 with Gary Puckett entitled "Is This Love" and is featured on a duet with Gary on the 'Heart" song "Alone".
Lewis moved to Southern California and joined up with San Diego Based band “The Monroes”, (“What do All the People Know) on various recording projects and performed concerts with Greg Kihn, The Motels and 10,000 Maniacs. She also co-arranged vocals while working extensively in the recording studio with Wayne Nelson, lead vocalist/Bassist of “The Little River Band”.
Laurie joined “The Mamas and the Papas” in 1986 and toured with them both nationally and internationally as a replacement for her friend actress/singer, McKenzie Phillips. The folk rock vocals of John Phillips, Denny Doherty, Spanky McFarlane and Laurie Beebe-Lewis resounded around the world on their tours through the United Kingdom, Europe, the Pacific Rim and extensively throughout the United States and Canada until 1993 when they disbanded. Later on, Spanky McFarlane reformed “Spanky and Our Gang” and featured Laurie as part of the gang along with some of the original members from the ‘60’s.
Presently, Laurie writes and records music in her studio with husband Chuck Lewis, and also performs as a solo artist as well as with various bands playing Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Standards and Americana in many band configurations. She is stylistic in all forms of vocal arts and gives 100% of herself to her audience.
