His hard work appears to be paying off as his new song has been on FM radio, as well as heavy rotation of the accompanying video on several cable receiving numerous spins stations.
A genuine reggae love song, “The Specialist” is an embodiment of Kefenste’s unique vocal skills and helps to spread the artiste’s concept of ‘love and unity for all.’
“I sing music with a message, with the hope that it will help to foster good relationships among people of different color, class and/or creed,” says Kefenste.
The song has a laidback flow, catchy hook and a melodious tempo. It is reminiscent of hit songs from the golden era of reggae in the 1980s and 90s. Music lovers are expected to appreciate its vintage charm combined with the artiste’s harmonious vocals.
Born and raised in Kingston, Kefenste has been on the music scene since the early 1970s when he performed an ad for the “Into the Light” JAMAL Literacy Program. After appearing with the Richard Ace Band, the singer joined forces with Michael Ranglin, along with brothers, Junior and Alton Smikle, to form a group called Super Classic in the 1980s. Together, they recorded a number of singles, including “Reggae Music Gone International” and Mento Medley”. During this time, they had numerous performances locally and across the United States.
Over the years, the singer has worn several hats, including those of a songwriter, producer, and former co-founder of Sunlight Records. Having returned from spending time with his family, Kefenste has persevered and is hoping to reap the rewards of the continued success of his new single. “The Specialist” is produced by Imperial Music & Ent. So far, it has appeared on the Tempo Network, Video Alley and Entertainment Report on TVJ.
