Josiah Carr was born into a music-loving family in Evans, Georgia and started writing his own songs when he was six years old. From childhood onward, music brought him closer to the canvas of all of life’s mosaics. Carr is a self-taught pianist and a self-taught wayfarer; he fleshed out his small-town pedigree at the keys of a piano and even sold the keys to his first car to live and play music abroad. After leaving Georgia at 18, his music and spirit have ripened throughout the five countries and six different states he has since called home. His nomadic energy and engagement with people within a medley of different background and cultures permeates through every layer of his songs. “Traveling and meeting so many beautiful people from all over the world has given me so much inspiration. My goal isn't fame, my goal is sharing the gift I have been given with people all over the world. I want to make a difference; and I want to do that using my music,” Carr says.
Carr settled down in Nashville in 2013 to put his head and heart to
work in the studio. His sound is best described as piano-driven
pop with an artful brush of southern hospitality. He released his
first single, “Drivin’ Me Wild,” in 2011, and has since shared the
stage with several noteable artists.
Carr’s motivation behind his music is not to represent just his
own stories, but to energize the beauty and diversity of those
on the fringe of music’s unventilated conventions. He hopes
to be a voice for the unity of the human spirit in spite of
borders, class, and other constructs that keep our ears
estranged. His music demonstrates an empathic courage
and integrity that’s positioned to breakthrough the
country music scene with songs that a larger audience
can connect with.
