The Branchy Boys are brothers Jackson and Sam Kendrick along with their father Johnny. With Sam on fiddle and Jackson playing guitar they perform a variety of bluegrass, gospel, and western songs with strong individual and harmony vocals.
After being besieged with acoustic music their entire lives due to their father’s relentless pursuit, they finally succumbed to the pressure and began performing with him a few years ago. Johnny is a long-time bluegrass banjoist and an enthusiast of cowboy music. He is a co-founder of Fort Scott’s Echoes of the Trail Cowboy Poetry Gathering, so the Boys are well-versed in that music, and allow the Old Man to plug in a few authentic cowboy songs during their sets.
They live on the family farm near Richards, Mo., and perform at various celebrations throughout the region.
