Joe Con is a multi-genre singer-songwriter originally from the bluegrass region of central Kentucky.
Post-Americana, folk, rock, gospel blues, country & soul with a heavy dose of hiphop flavor thrown in.
Lived, worked and performed in Los Angeles since 2008 and previously spent years in the SF Bay Area as an MC in the underground hip-hop scene.
"Because of my unique stylistic background, I am equally comfortable performing in an intimate acoustic setting with just my guitar and harmonicas or in front of a large crowd either fronting my awesome band or rapping with a DJ. Don't be fooled though-- yes, I've been compared to acts like G. Love and Jack Johnson (which is extremely flattering since I'm big fans of both), but that's only one side of the story. I've been bitten hard by the blues, and I'm a bit of a musical renaissance man. Sure, I love Jack White, The Black Keys and tons of old blues and classic rock from Hendrix and Howling Wolf to Dylan and The Dead. But if you want to see a white boy who can spit some of the dopest rhymes you've ever heard, trust me, I am that guy, too. In fact, I used to jokingly call myself the musical love child of Leonard Cohen and Mos Def because of the unique juxtaposition of my inner troubadour and hip-hop poet laureate. I am an ideal entertainer for house parties of all sizes, indoor and outdoor get togethers and all kinds of special events, and I can adapt my setlist to the mood and occasion. When I play with a band we typically perform mostly original music, though we do throw in a few choice covers here and there.
