JK Nick Nichols is a professional Musician, Songwriter, and Entertainer has been performing professionally for over 25 years. He has opened for such legendary acts with his band Southern Crescent as T.G Sheppard, Gene Watson, and O.B. McClinton, Dixiana, and The Masters 5. Nick began writing while attending Clemson University, and has numerous songs pitched to such artists as Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Micky Guyton, Brett Eldredge, Jason Aldean, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, George Strait, Wynona Judd, Travis Tritt, Ronnie Milsap, Tricia Yearwood, Jamie O’Neal, Lee Greenwood, and Clay Walker. He resides in the greater Nashville area where he is currently writing regularly with hit song writer Gerald Smith (What Part of No Don’t You Understand-Lori Morgan and Every Second, Every Minute, Every Hour of Every Day-Collin Rae) and other great writers such as twice Grammy nominated songwriter Jan Buckingham (Queen of Denial and Blue Roses, both #1 hits for Pam Tillis) and Bob Pennington, both former Warner brothers staff writers. He and his co-writing partner Amy Chenoweth have a song just included on the new Nashville artist Rowdy McCarran’s first project, Eyes Wide Open, entitled “Too Far Gone” The title track, “Eyes Wide Open” was also written by Nick with two additional songs included on the CD as well. In the past 2 years Nick as a songwriter has licensed some 20 songs to various artists both domestic and overseas such as American Indie Artist Brandy Williams and Irish award winning artist Sean McAloon. His most recent single, “Greatest Girl” was just released to over 100 Radio Stations in Canada and the US by his current label, Star 1 Records. The single was received very well downloaded and put into rotation by some 50 stations in all. Most recently, former Nashville Sony Epic recording Star Tammy Cochran has just released “Think Pink”, an inspirational song of hope and encouragement for victims and families of those who have and suffer from Breast Cancer written by Nick and Bob Pennington. This song has been partnered with the Greater Komen Nashville Foundation / Susan G. Komen and Tammy will be performing the song on Oct 24, 2015 at the annual Race for the Cure in Brentwood, TN and also at the Awards Expo that afternoon for an all-total estimated 50K+ people.
His style of writing and singing includes Country, Pop, Positive and Contemporary Christian, some R & B along with Jazz, as well as Christmas songs. Nick performs regularly with his band in various festivals and private functions as well as regularly at the most popular Writers’ Venues in Nashville such as The Bluebird Café, Douglas Corner, the Indigo Lounge, Bobby’s Idle Hour, and the Vanderbilt Commodore Lounge along with countless other coffee houses and packed arenas. He is an excellent keyboardist and rhythm guitarist and has served as the lead singer and Keyboard player for the Southern Crescent Band. (www.southerncrescentband.com) since 1981. He considers his greatest influences to be his Dad, James H. Nichols, Dan Seals, Michael W. Smith, John Lennon and John Denver. Nick signed his first recording deal last year with Star One Records in Los Angeles, and his first single “High Cost Of Loving” has performed very well on the Indie Charts, going all the way to #1 on the Number 1 Music Chart, with the accompanying video receiving in excess of 40, 000 views worldwide and is now in regular rotation on CMT Television Network. His first Christian single, “Something Inside of Me”, co-written with Christian artist and Minister Steve Garrett, went as high as #24 on the Christian Voice Chart this past year. Nick has two additional videos as a CMT Artist; one entitled “Hero”, a song written in memory of his Father along with “The Trail” co-written with the artist, SuSa.
