Ian Fisher

Ian Fisher is an American musician making his own brand of Country Music Without a Country. In 2008, he fled Missouri to settle in Vienna, Austria, where he was indelibly marked by the old world (whatever that means these days). He left before his roots got too deep though, got lost in New York City for half a year, set up camp on a sofa in Berlin, hit the road, got more lost, and then ironically found himself anew through the music he was raised on. The honesty and misty-eyed nostalgia of his words harken back to Willie Nelson, but Fisher’s honky-tonks aren’t in the American heartland. He’s at home in a Viennese Kaffeehaus or a smokey dive-bar in Kreuzberg and I’ll be damned if his songs don’t turn the Autobahn into Highway 61. With what the Süddeutsche Zeitung calls “a one of kind, heartbreaking voice”, Fisher has performed over 700 concerts in the last five years throughout the EU & US and has written over 1000 songs along the way. His new album, entitled Nero, is the response to those many miles traveled.
