The Frank Martin Trio is a loose canon, bringing the goods with acoustic or electric instruments and anything from darkly beautiful originals to romping covers. Like a Lyle Lovett concert, the Trio brings a covers a wide range of styles and sounds, yet all emerging from a deep well of character. The band members live in Glenwood Springs and Carbondale, Colorado.

Frank Gayer Martin picked up the guitar and lifted his voice at the age of thirteen. Now 4 decades years later, he knows it’s not how well one plays and sings, “but how much soul you bring to the party.” Early on, Martin was hooked by the wounded charisma of Gram Parson, leading to the taproots of Americana and its branches that span folk, blues and jazz. Today Martin’s sings with a voice imbued with the spirit of gospel and blues. His touch on guitar and mandolin delivers both fire and rain. The graceful Aaron Taylor, drummer/percussionist, is an artist of time and color and has been Martin’s companion and foil for many years and several bands, including All The Pretty Horses. Bassist William Brown brings the warmth and texture of acoustic bass with a jazz mentality and a go-for-it spirit.

The band’s music, much of it original, shares stories of life, joy to injustice — all with a goal of empathy and redemption.
