Brenda Carsey

I learned about Brenda through her work in Los Angeles when I visited the Hotel Cafe for the first time. She hosted one of the venue’s “Monday Monday At The Hotel Cafe,” a weekly event which showcases local talent who each sample their works and sometimes collaborate with each other. I was instantly captivated by Brenda’s genuine aura, her enthusiasm, and her talent. When I followed her on social social media I was subsequently linked to her works on Spotify and Bandcamp. I absolutely loved listening to all her albums on Bandcamp, especially because it opens the door to legitimate ownership of this songs. I couldn’t get enough of her albums. My favorite albums are Solitary Refinement and Cognizance. These albums best showcase her songwriting, instrumental prowess, and leave a lasting impression almost as much as meeting Brenda herself during a performance. Brenda is the kind of person who remembers the audience she encounters, and also takes an interest in their art if they embrace their creative side. My favorite live performance of Brenda’s has to be in Fullerton’s Muckenthaler Cultural Center. Her vocal performance and piano mastery reminds me why I am passionate about supporting local artists. I highly recommend seeing Brenda in a Live setting, and supporting her expanding library of original songs!
