Ben Zaidi grew up in Seattle, Washington, and was introduced to music production by a high school teacher who gave him basic music software for his computer. He began writing and producing his own songs, earning the attention of local record labels and, eventually, Harvard University, where he travelled to attend college.
In May of 2015, his final month at Harvard, Ben completed a full-length album of songs written and produced entirely by himself entitled “Sophomore.” The songs were crafted obsessively over a period of four years, and align Ben’s alt-rock and indie-pop melodic sensibilities with vivid beds of electronic instrumentation and hip-hop drum machines.
