Ashley Scire grew up in Clinton, New Jersey, a small town that is not particularly known for appreciating country music. As a child, she wore cowboy boots with sun dresses, much to the astonishment of her teachers and classmates.
Over the years she spent countless hours singing songs and practicing her acting skills as she took on various roles in school play productions. Though she enjoyed acting, music would prove to be her first love.
Little did Ashley know that one instrument would have such a profound effect on her that it would put her on the path to pursue music professionally. It all started with Ashley’s first guitar. It was purchased by her father Robert from a yard sale just around the corner from their house. Ashley first picked up that guitar at the age of fifteen and has not put it down since.
She not only used that guitar to play her favorite artists’ songs, but she was also inspired to write many songs herself.
As Ashley was finishing High School and entering adulthood, her passion for music only grew. She became so enamored with the idea of sharing her love for country music with the world that when the time came to choose which college she would attend, she chose Lipscomb University. Located in Nashville, TN – the capital of the country music industry – Lipscomb not only provided Ashley with a solid education, but also a great opportunity to pursue her passion for country music.
Once in Nashville, Ashley immediately felt at home. Not only did she embrace her new college life, but she was also able to explore her musical abilities in an area where country music is king. Her talent for playing guitar, singing and songwriting has opened many doors for Ashley as a singer/songwriter. She had the opportunity to not only perform for her classmates at Lipscomb, but also at Tootsies Orchard Lounge, Rippy’s BBQ, The Commodore Grill, The Tin Roof, The Listening Room, Puckett’s Grocery, Hotel Indigo,Cafe Coco and The Row. It is at these venues that she learned how to be comfortable and, more importantly, have fun in front of an audience. Now, performing has become as much a part of her as the music itself. Her cowboy boots sure do some stomping and her eyes sure do sparkle when sharing the stories of her life! She states, “If I can write and perform songs that can relate to the people in the audience, then my job is done and I am extremely happy.”
Not only has Ashley opened doors for opportunities to play shows, she was also spent time focusing hard on her dreams of becoming a writer. Ashley joined NSAI within the first month of living in Nashville. A short year later she decided to become a member of ASCAP. Ashley spends time writings songs by herself, but also enjoys the thrill of co-writing. “Songwriting for me has just become a really honest process” states Ashley. Ashley is known to tell the story behind each song when playing shows. She believes it is important that everybody knows how real some of the words are.
Ashley loves her hometown and does frequently visit New Jersey to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys bringing her music home and playing at the Riverside Café, the very first place where she performed in Clinton. Ashley also participates in the “Come Together” Music Festival during the summer in New Jersey. She states “It is always a good time playing for all those who have been supporting me for so long.”
Ashley is determined and dedicated to sharing her music with the world. Music is a part of her and sharing it with people like you is her ultimate goal.
