Whitney Shay has been performing since the ripe old age of 3, and hasn't stopped since! Getting her start out in musical theatre, Whitney still enjoys working on various film, modeling, acting, and dance projects while also maintaining a busy schedule as a working musician. Shay holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre- with a Performance emphasis from San Diego State University. Whitney Shay is a hard working and versatile performer and you can find her singing with anything her own jazz quartet, belting out some blues and R&B alongside Robin Henkel, fronting a 13 piece Big Band ("The JazzKatz Project"), or working in various configurations with some of the most talented musicians in town! Robin Henkel Bio
Winner of the 2014 San Diego Music Award for "Best Blues" and previously twice awarded "Best Blues CD", Robin Henkel performs the rural blues of Mississippi with an intensity rarely seen in Southern California. Robin also composes and arranges for his own horn band honoring the rich American traditions of blues, jazz, funk and swing. Over the last two years these performances have happily and proudly included the rich vocal stylings of Whitney Shay--inRobin's own words "she's badass and when it's show time she always delivers an energetic and engaging performance." Since 1973 Robin has opened shows for BB King, Dizzy Gillespie, Bonnie Raitt, Charles Brown, Jimmy Witherspoon, Jr Wells, and performed with The San Diego Symphony, Big Jay McNealy, Sha Na Na, Buddy Miles and Johnny Almond. www.robinhenkel.com
