FORMAL BIO: John began his musical journey studying classical violin. At age 16, he found a nylon-string guitar in his parent's basement and taught himself to play by writing his own music. He self-describes his style as rhythmic soul, and frequently uses a looper to mix violin, guitar, beats, and vocal harmonies throughout his live shows. He has opened for John Legend at SXSW, been named Best Performance of the Year by the WestCoast Songwriters NW Chapter, and played over 250 shows in the past three years.
