Lizzi Trumbore
Lizzi Trumbore is an up and coming jazz vocalist and composer who is praised for her ethereal and clear voice, genre-bending original music, and genuine lyric delivery. Growing up in the flourishing San Diego jazz scene, Lizzi has moved out to Denton, Texas to pursue a jazz degree at the prestigious music program at the University of North Texas and is loving all of the musical variety that the DFW metroplex has to offer. Raised in a house flooded with music, she draws influence from many styles including jazz, classical, folk, R&B, pop, and world music, both old and new.
Lizzi is a published songwriter and arranger, and has had her original compositions performed by vocal groups throughout the country. Her songs have been described as "world class," "sincere and intelligently crafted," and "full of beautiful surprises." She skillfully combines a vibrant and youthful perspective on songwriting while still capturing a mature depth and understanding of the art form.
Currently a student in UNT's presitigious jazz program, Lizzi has performed throughout the United States and Japan as both a soloist and side-woman with many esteemed musicians including Bobby McFerrin, Marvin Hamlisch, Sara Gazarek, Josh Nelson, and The Next Generation Jazz Orchestra.
Often compared to classic jazz voices such as Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall, Anita O'Day, and Norah Jones, Lizzi has been named as one of the premier young jazz vocalists in the country by multiple excellent professional musicians and music educators, including vocalist Leonard Patton and Paul Contos of SF Jazz and Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. Lizzi and her poised and professional band bring new contemporary life to jazz standards from a time gone by. But their repertoire doesn't stop there- their rejuvenating takes on R&B and pop classics from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Etta James, Carole King, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson are full of energy, spunk, and are always a crowd favorite.
The Lizzi Trumbore group varies in instrumentation, determined by what is best for each individual client and event. Do you know that you want a jazz singer but don't quite know what type of ensemble you want? No problem! Lizzi can work with you to see what type of group would be best suited for you and your event. These ensemble variations can span anywhere from an intimate and mellow duo setting, to a full-sized jazz combo complete with a kickin' horn section to add some added pizazz to your party!
“Lizzi's pursuit of an older art form in a newer age allows for a progressive perspective, making it accessible and entertaining to the masses without compromising its integrity."
