I have had the privilege of providing music for MANY, MANY wineries, wine bars, cocktail parties, dinners, restaurants, concerts, and other public and private events in my career. I have been especially busy performing since moving to the Pacific NW in August 2008. I have played for events all throughout this region from Seattle to Eastern Washington, the Oregon Coast to the Columbia Gorge, Southern and Central Oregon, the Mt. Rainer area, etc. I have played at many different venues in this region including: Black Butte Ranch, Tiffany Center, Sentinel Hotel, Portland City Grill, Portland Hilton, RingSide Fish House, Surfsands Resort, Cave B Inn, Skamania Lodge, Crystal Mountain, Timberline Lodge, Portland Art Museum, Andina restaurant, many McMenamins locations, private residences, and many other locales. I have also served many corporate clients such as Sunset Porsche, KRUG Champagne, NIKE, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Otak Inc., Umpqua Bank, Macy's, Orvis, PCOGS, The Language Conservancy, and others. My playing style and repertoire is largely influenced by my classical guitar and jazz studies, however, I play MUCH more than that. I also play pop, Spanish, Brazilian, South American, Baroque, original, and other styles as well. If you have specific songs/pieces you would like incorporated into your event or if you would like me to focus on a specific style of music please let me know. I am more than happy to learn them or to tailor the playlist to meet your wishes. At my performances you can expect to hear nylon and steel string acoustic guitars. I primarily play solo instrumental guitar music, however, I also occasionally use a loop pedal which allows me to create the sound of a full band which can help keep the musical airwaves fresh and interesting. I also play in a guitar duo setting that plays primarily jazz. Having a duo has a different energy level and a fuller sound in general. Portland, OR based singer-songwriter Corey Distler has co-written five albums with the likes of Zinnie for Short, The Martyrs and The Sun-birds. Dead Men Talking represents the first group in which he is the sole front man. Alongside long-time friends: drummer Max Lilien (The Fourth Wall, Mamai, Southern Belle) and multi-instrumentalist Casey Becker (Project Eldridge), the music comes to life. At once it brings to mind the timeless soulful bands of the 60's and 70's. Upon closer listening reveals a refreshing modern twist that brings to mind The Black Keys, Wilco and Spoon. The complex song compositions showcase Distler's music studies at Portland State University. Their first release is a dynamic, artfully crafted 5 track EP which was recently supported by a national tour.

Neon Culpa is an alternative indie-rock outfit of Portland, one of the city's most raw, but also refined and melodically purposeful power-pop acts, with elements found in bands such as the New Pornographers and Built to Spill, in terms of their indie-electric stylings, as well as Wilco, with their country-tinged clean leads, and Cake and Spoon, with catchy horn lines that manage to avoid gimmick or redundancy in an astonishing manner, give that the style of music is otherwise not one typically associated with dense, regular trombone and trumpet arrangements. Defined by an exhilarating, freewheeling energy that is balanced with a self-conscious, but very expressive thematic wittiness, with reflective lyrics that offer different potential levels of depth, depending on the listener and how much they want out of the song…so the aim of these ideological sonic trippers, one might say, is to make music that can make people dance, think and ponder reflectively, or do both at the same time, a soul-stirring adventure that brings you up and down at the same time. The band is the result of a long series of musical journeys and overlapping paths, founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Charlie Barker IV, and now includes brass player and vocalist Heidi Aispuro--the two being a love-interest who effectively front the band--bassist Eric Speiring, lead guitarist Aaron Byers, recently joined by drummer Evan Gutt. They have throughout 2015 and now into the new year played such local venues as the Doug Fir Lounge, Star Theater, Dante's, Aladdin Theater, the Liquor Store, and numerous others, slowly making a name for themselves in the scene.

We are the Jackalope Saints, hailing from Portland, Oregon. Our sound is folk music fashioned to bluegrass and hammered to the floorboards of forgotten barns, winding through overgrown valleys where ailing giants sleep their lives away. I am a singer/songwriter performing acoustic sets with just me and a piano. Up until this point all of my music and production have been done at home using YouTube and digital distribution to share my music. I perform both original songs as well as cover songs. Growing up as the son of two music teachers, music has been a constant influence throughout my life. As an unborn baby, through headphones my mother played the music of Mozart and other writers such as Bob Dylan. I attribute much of my creative poetic style to this early exposure to great music. I spent many hours attending concerts conducted by my parents as a young child; once again expanding my musical palette. My father, in addition to being a conductor and public school band director, also has been a song writer for many years. I can remember playing his melodies by ear on the piano as a young child, before I had any formal training. I studied piano at age 11 for three years. As a member of the school instrumental music program, I studied percussion for four years, during which time, I was selected as a regional 1st chair all star player three times. My music education continued as I became a member of an extremely accomplished high school choir, ever broadening my musical experience. I soon became student conductor of the choir. As a senior, making Gladwin High School history, I composed what would be voted the Class of 2007, class song. Accompanied by the elite, Wings of Harmony, I performed a live rendition of my original song at commencement. My choral experience carried me through my junior year in college as a member of the highly acclaimed Alma College A Cappella Choir. I was soon selected to perform with the Alma College,“Scots On the Rocks,” a men’s a cappella variety group for whom I did considerable arranging. Although performing in those groups brought me much joy and musical fulfillment, crafting my first song as a tenth grader was a shining moment that illuminated a pathway that I have since been compelled to follow. From that moment on, I knew I was meant to compose music. Over the last ten years I have composed and produced over 100 songs. Initially writing in an acoustic/indie style, I have made a point of exploring many styles, incorporating diverse rhythmic treatments and evolving toward an electro-pop sound. Recently I have completed several rap/hip hop projects in a collaborative effort put out by my new group we call “The Snapbacks.” All of my music is completely original with lyrics and music performed, produced, and recorded by James Hawkins. I find myself composing more than ever, always working toward mastering my craft. My devotion to music is unconditional. I'll forever be a writer and composer; this much is certain. As primarily a studio artist, I am discovering the importance of live performance to better provide awareness of my music. Every day, the evolution of my sound brings me closer to an originality that separates me from every other artist. I've been blessed with tremendous support and appreciate every listen I'm given.

Welcome to this House in the Sky. The musical mothership of Harris Levon McRae,“Da Rockin’ MC", and Bets Pott, the co-captains of Starship Skyhouse. Based in a Magic Castle in PORTLANDIA. ROCKIN' THE UNIVERSE. Skyhouse has developed a sound that lands them smack-dab in the middle of the Alternative R&B genre as a band but genre-busting as songwriters and producers. R&B with an alternative twist and DIY indie inspiration. They are influenced by Rock, Pop, Soul, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Folk, EDM, and incorporate these diverse styles into their own unique mix. BMI-affiliated songwriters, as well as performers, Skyhouse also focuses on writing songs for/with other artists and licensing music for film and television placement The duo decided to start an independent record label--Skyhouse Music LLC-- to release and promote their own music such as their latest album, Angel as well as to market some of their many collaborations. They are expanding that vision to include releasing albums by a few like-minded artists. Skyhouse has really embraced the concept of the sound system—a group of DJs and engineers contributing and working together as one, often playing and producing one particular kind of music such as reggae or hip-hop to rock the party. The duo opened up the concept to include a wide variety of music and many types of musicians. Both Bets and Harris are songwriter/producers and multi-instrumentalists playing an interesting mix of musical instruments including guitar, bass, keyboards, piano, banjo, harmonica, ukulele, and percussion.

As a Keyboard Funk Trio, we play groove-oriented Soul and RandB influenced improvised music, based on small heads of rehearsed music. Our mission is designed to enhance and compliment any venue with any genre we see fit. Our music is likable, versatile, and danceable, purposing a new form of live music.
