grampadrew is a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist based in San Diego, California. His music is steeped in diverse influences from Willie Nelson to Joy Division, John Prine to Crass, creating a voice that is uniquely grampadrew. His performances have been described as alternating between the quiet of a grave digger and the fire of a street preacher. In addition to his own musical projects, he also heads the songwriter collective known as The Flim Flam Revue and plays the Greek bouzuki and musical saw in Julia Sage and the Bad Hombres. An ecclectic and passionate performer, he is best understood live where he cajoles, beguiles and occasionally good naturedly insults his audience into submission.

ABOUT US Backroads is a group of experienced musicians who enjoy playing the music they love and grew up with for as many people as they can. They are based in North County San Diego, but will travel to wherever the need for their music brings them. Beatles, Eagles, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Santana, Poco, Jason Aldean, America, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, Allman Brothers, just to name a few are the artists they cover, with smooth vocal harmonies and sharp playing.

The band was named after a J.J Cale song “Humdinger” from his “Travelog” album and the slang term that means “a remarkable person or outstanding thing of it’s kind.” Began in 2017 the strength in The Humdingers music is picking great cover songs and rearranging or “humdingerize” them in their own peculiar way and in order to become one of the most versatile and eclectic Americana/Roots bands in the San Diego area with their blend of acoustic/electric instruments and vocals. Audience involvement is a key part of the show, where the audience is encouraged to sing through the dedicated audience mic and even help with song selection. Fun aside, BAM! is also incredibly talented and will wow the crowd with the breadth of songs they play, from Johnny Cash to Journey to Queen, there are few artists outside of their range. Sean Cox is a local San Diego musician and songwriter. Projects over the last 15 years include solo work, Social Green, Big Penny, Bandalier, The Lucy Ring, The Jesse Ray Smith Duo, and more recently, Burden Feathers. You can see him performing frequently around town playing an array of music from originals to covers spanning Classic Rock, Folk, Americana, and British Pop. Some of his greatest musical influences include The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Classic Country; but his well for music runs deep. Sean is available as a soloist, duo, trio, or full band.

A Singer Songwriter hailing from Portland, OR Jake London has been a professional musician for over 10 years. He has toured locally and nationally and has played many notable stages throughout his career including the infamous Hotel Cafe, House of Blues and many more. Jake has written, recorded and released multiple albums, one being under a subsidiary of Sony Music. His music can be found on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube among many others. In 2015 Jake worked with grammy award winning producer Phil Allen (Adele, Pink) to record a side project under the moniker CITY OF NEON which can also be found on various outlets. Jake is a regular performer throughout Southern California and he draws his musical influence from many great artists of the past. Some of his favorites include: Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, John Mayer and many more. Jake’s vocal talent paired with years of guitar practice has gained him a loyal following and his passion for the craft of music is evident in every song he performs.
