Bridge City Hustle
Brooklyn's Bridge City Hustle formed in the fall of 2012 and has been building a strong following in the Northeast and Midwest, thanks to performances in Chicago, Mineapolis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Connecticut and of course New York City. Led by singer/songwriter/producer Johnny Burgos, the band's music is inspired by struggle, both of the individual members and the unit as a collective body of like-minded musical hustlers. Drawing direct influence from the likes of Michael Jackson, D'Angelo, and Stevie Wonder, Bridge City Hustle are known for their collaboratively written compositions imbued with thick layers of groove - infused instrumentation, and lots of attention to detail. Burgos' troubled past and triumphs over love lost and a strong passion for socio-political awareness drive his lyricism, while his vocals are soulful, rhythmic, and peppered with hints of falsetto.
Burgos is joined by drum and keyboard virtuoso Dave Zerio, a student of the Hartford Conservatory and the New England Institute of Art who is equal parts Steve Gadd, John Bonham, and Stevie Wonder. Guitar virtuoso John Bendy has played since the age of 10 and was taken under the wing of blues masters Bill Perry and Popa Chubby in his early twenties. He has shared the stage with Jeff Coffin, Roy Hargrove, Felix Pastorius' The Social Experiment as well as the Bendy Pastorius Group and Bendy Effect, both of which he was a founding member. John also played guitar on Chrissie O'Dell's 2010 release 'If I had a dime' which charted extremely well on blues music charts around the nation.
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in early 2014, BCH released their debut project The E.P.independently, featuring the single "I Wanna Love Ya.” The second single, "Too Good for Me," was featured on NPR’s WNYC Soundcheck radio show as well as CW PIX 11's City Sounds segment. February of 2015, the band packed houses across the midwest on The Overtime Tour, which sold out Chicago's Double Door venue and Pittsburgh's Winery.
Most recently, the band landed a major publishing deal with French's Mustard, whose new worldwide TV, Radio and Web campaign features BCH's original song, "Squeeze Life." With upcoming dates planned for the Northeast, the band is busy promoting their most recent singles, "Show You My Heart" and “Touch You" and is in the midst of recording their sophomore project slated for release in early 2016.
