Chris Turner
Chris Turner is based in NYC, but is currently residing in Los Angeles. He can perform in various capacities. From a full band playing originals and covers, to an intimate jazz set with a pianist or guitarist. Chris uses his angelic falsetto and experimental scatting to lay down smooth
and creative phrasings, Chris is bringing old soul back in a fresh sound. This classically trained soul crooner deftly combines jazz, blues, funk, and old school R&B in his music. Chris Turner is a featured artist on grammy award winning Snarky Puppy’s 2016 album, “Family Dinner Vol 2” , featuring his song Liquid Love.
BET “Music Matters” Artist, also featured his song “Liquid Love” on the first Music Matters compilation, released by Sony Records/BET, along with tracks by Miguel, J.Cole and Big Sean. Chris is one of only 2 unsigned artists included in this compilation. He has performed live and been interviewed on BET’s “106 & Park” program and later released his single, “Liquid Love”, premiering on BET. A graduate of the New School University Jazz and Contemporary Program for Jazz Vocals, he is currently on faculty : teaching private voice lessons.
a Featured vocalist on Esperanza Spalding’s 2012-2013 World Tour
recorded background vocals on Esperanza Spalding’s grammy award winning album “Radio Music Society”. He co-wrote and performs on “We Are America” with Esperanza Spalding and Prince, in 2014, supporting the closing of Guantanamo. Currently performs with jazz legends Eddie Palmieri, Dianne Reeves, Harvey Mason Sr, Eric Harland, young innovators Big Yuki, Killiam Shakespeare, the Revive Big Band, Kris Bowers and Chris’s own band “the DropOuts”. Chris also performs with or has performed and toured with grammy award winners Bilal, Esperanza Spalding, the Roots, Usher, Sam Smith, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Carlos Santana, Mike Posner, Kool and the Gang, and it all started with Sean Kingston and his 1st world tour in 2007.
