Joelle Lurie Quartet
Joelle Lurie Quartet was Resident Artist for Lincoln Center Kids in 16/17, performing throughout the season, working with and teaching children about music, and developing their kids' music alter ego, JoJo & The Pinecones. The Quartet made its debut at the renowned Lollapalooza Festival during summer, 2017, and will make its BAM (Brooklyn) debut this fall. Lead singer, Joelle Lurie, brings her "jazzed-up pop and popped-up jazz" modern style to tight arrangements of standards, originals, and reimagined pop covers, backed by her longtime band, The Pinehurst Trio. Lurie has been called "a chameleon" by NPR, for her ability to seamlessly shift from one musical genre to another, with incredible ease. Metro raves, "...a magnificent voice and charming demeanor." Joelle Lurie Quartet will debut an all-Bernstein program at Society of the Four Arts (Palm Beach) this season, in anticipation of Leonard Bernstein's 100th birthday. Other programs include a celebration of George and Ira Gershwin, The Jewish American Songbook, and the songs of Joni Mitchell.
