The Dank is a blues and Latin rock band based in Los Angeles, CA. Their high-energy shows and recordings feature music with lyrics in both English and Spanish.
Texas-natives David Monnich and Jimi Morales met in 2011 while attending Williams College in northwestern Massachusetts. Drawn together by their common interest in blues, rock, and musical styles from Latin America, they began writing songs and performing at local bars and school events. After graduating, the boys eventually relocated to Los Angeles and formed The Dank in January 2014.
The Dank have since performed in clubs and festivals throughout the pacific coast of the United States and Mexico, including the Instituto Cultural De Baja California (Tijuana, MX), Día De Muertos Festival (Mexicali, MX), Zentrro Underground (Guadalajara, MX), Fiestas Patrias (Los Angeles), and Fiesta Broadway (Los Angeles). In September 2015, the band was honored by Los Angeles city council member Jose Huizar for their contributions and commitment to the culture of the city of Los Angeles.
Featuring collaborators from Los Angeles and Tijuana, MX, The Dank released the 420 Special EP on April 20th, 2015. The four songs were recorded in el Valle De Guadalupe, MX and were mixed and mastered in Bedrock Studios by Eugene Toale (engineering credits include work with Kanye West, 50 Cent, Las Cafeteras, and Viento Callejero). The 420 Special is available on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Amazon Music, Google Play, Rhapsody, Soundcloud, and Bandcamp.
The Dank is currently performing around the Southern California and Baja California, MX regions and working on a full-length album with producer Eugene Toale that is set for release in the spring of 2016.
