The Obscure Dignitaries is a progressive world-music group made up of Dallas-based, professional musicians who strive to recreate and reinvent intricate, traditional folk rhythms from around the globe. After forming in 2013, the group quickly built up a song list spanning more than sixteen countries worldwide. Gypsy rhythms, Slavic torch songs, American folk melodies, Brazilian samba, Irish airs, Turkish grooves – all of these became ways not only to showcase different musical traditions but also to push the envelope on those traditions with modern, jazz-tinged harmonies and rhythms. We are very versatile, with a four piece band that can turn into a full Balkan brass band depending on the occasion. We've been playing for three years, some of our most recent venues include the Dallas Museum of Art and Goldenfest in Brooklyn, NY.
