Going to the movies, talking to friends, doting on her Yorkie terrier: in many ways folk/pop singer-songwriter Sonali is a typical girl. But this assumption vanishes as soon as the music begins.
In fall of 2012, Sonali was invited to attend the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, housed in New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Sonali had the opportunity to study under the direction of music industry veterans as varied as Amund Björklund (Train), to Questlove (The Roots), as well as attend guest lectures by Pharrell, Benny Blanco, and more. In December 2012, Sonali and her classmates collaborated to create a viral cover of the famous Rihanna song “Diamonds.” After being featured on Buzzfeed and by Ryan Seacrest, the video garnered the attention of Rihanna herself who invited them to her concert in Newark, where she personally admired and congratulated them on their work.
In 2014, Sonali showcased a dynamic mix of sparkling songs, energetic performances and auspicious vocal authority on her EP Wake Up. The EP release earned her the title of one of the Top Prospects of 2014 by Music Connection Magazine, as well as a spot on The Huffington Post.
Currently, Sonali is in the studio recording for her second EP with producers Eren Cannata (Cody Simpson) and Carter Matschullat, as well as performing live in New York, Nashville, and Florida.
