Growing up in the many eccentricities of Mississippi, Light Beam Rider has sculpted a sound unlike any southern band before them on their new album "A Place to Sleep among the Creeps. They recorded the new album in the woods of Water Valley, MS with Mississippi native Winn McElroy (who has also recorded The Weeks who are on the Kings of Leon’s Serpent & Snakes label, and grammy award winner Jimbo Mathus).
While in college, Light Beam Rider spent the last few years making a name for themselves in the Southeast, but now they are planning to tour nationally in support for their upcoming album. They have recently moved to Nashville as a centralized base for touring and played 123 shows in 2015 ending with eight sold out shows with close friends and Mississippi born, The Weeks. They have also toured with The Whigs, Diarrhea Planet, Sol Cat, Into it. Over it., Free Throw, Junior Astronomers, Microwave, Heyrocco, Chrome Pony, HVRD, and Hawthorne Heights.
It's a sense of family heritage and regional pride that drives Light Beam rider to change the often negative social perception of their beloved homeland and inform others that their is an amazing music and art scene developing in Mississippi, which they feel blessed to have been a part of. Quite some time has passed since a Mississippi band has made a large impact on the global music scene and LBR is diligently pursuing this accomplishment. The Clarion Ledger (Mississippi’s largest newspaper) has referred to LBR music as “post-rock jam bliss,” and The Local Voice out of Oxford, MS has called the band, “Mississippi’s next great contribution to the music scene."
