Composing music for an LA film Project in the summer of 2015 was the catalyst for Big Pine. For Kevin Mcloughlin & George Schoeppner, writing together for the first time in many years was enough to make them realize that it was time to form a band. There was only one singer/songwriter considered for the project, local favorite Smokey Gage. It didn’t take long for the 3 to realize they had formed a solid songwriting team and so the “Piney” sound was born; Strong acoustic guitar surrounded by intricate electric guitars, Zeke Merkel's masterful drumming dancing the line between Rock, Jazz & Blues, coupled with Randy Finn's creative and bold bass playing, all supporting Smokey’s dynamically soulful voice. Like a lone huge pine tree against the blue sky, Big Pine sways in the breeze of the music it creates and everyone stops to enjoy the cool shade of this refreshing Big Pine sound.
